Sharing on Saturday (SOS)
The Sharing on Saturday (SOS) Programme was established over
10 years ago in response to the needs of children needing additional support.
Our specialist teachers, dyslexia tutor and speech and language therapist
work together to plan individual education programmes in literacy, numeracy,
study skills, and exam preparation. In addition, we also support the needs
of children with fine/gross motor difficulties (e.g. dyspraxia), emotional
and behavioural difficulties, and autistic spectrum disorder.
Children
have access to a wide range of multi-sensory learning materials to cater for
their individual learning styles. SOS is constantly striving to find the most
appropriate learning pathways to promote children’s academic and social/emotional
development. As part of our ethos, we actively welcome input from both children
and parents when setting learning objectives and planning individual programmes
of study.
Childern
attend the SOS programme on Saturday mornings between 10am and
12pm. They are placed in one of two classess depending on age
and profile of needs.
One
to one tutoring
This is an individualised and intensive programme for those
who need extra help or need flexibility of times. These programmes are ideal
for students who need additional tuition out of school, either after school
or on weekends. The tutor will again devise a specialised programme designed
through information provided by the parents and any school reports available.
The sessions usually run for an hour a week and can continue as long as is
felt necessary by the parents and child. Regular feedback is given from
the tutors on the progress being made and on future directions.
